Pulled up to this California check-point. They asked if we had any vegetables or fruit and Al claimed we had 2 bananas and they let us go without any other questions. Guess they don't want any home grown vegetables or fruit taken into California and the officer knew we could not grow bananas in Washington State!!!!

Back in the 1950's when traveling to California, we stopped at this checkpoint where they also asked if we had any fruit or veggies. Mom said we only had a few bananas. They were going to confiscate them and Mom refused. At 2 in the morning there we were eating all of the bananas so we would have to throw them away. Funny now, but at the time my parents were not laughing.
