Manago Hotel's menu is posted on this large reader board right in the dining room. Al had the Ono (ono means "delicious" or something close to that) and this fish is so ono that is why they named the fish Ono. Molly had Ahi (which is the flank part or near there from the Yellow-fin Tuna) and it too definitely was ono....
The meals came with a big bowl of steamed white rice, big bowl of green beans, big bowl of long rice which are long clear noodles (they look like large clear worms and are hard to get to stay on a fork....they tend to just slide off). The dinner was served "family style" for the 2 of us. To us Haole's, this might seem like a weird meal but it is so traditional Hawaiian. (a Haole in Hawaii is a person not native to the Islands and commonly used tor caucasians.)...(pro-nounced "Howlie")
In 1994 when we stayed at the Manago, I had Pork Chops and they were excellent and Al had the Teriyaki Chicken which was excellent too.
Breakast was really great too ~ Al had Eggs and Portuguese Sausage and Molly had Bacon and Eggs. The fresh papaya on the Islands at this time of year just is so plentiful they almost give them away. The same is true with Mango's when they are in season typically in the late Spring.....
