Riverside Hotel, Clarksdale, MS., in biz since 1944.
It was the 4th Marker place on the
Mississippi Blues Trail.

This was the housing choice for such Blues greats as
Howlin' Wolf, Sonny Boy Williamson II, Robert
Nighthawk
and where Ike Turner wrote and
rehersed
"Rocket 88".

This is also where Bessie Smith died in 1937 after
a fatal car accident on Hwy. 61 (then known as the
G.T. Thomas Hospital).
We met the proprietor "RAT" who invited us to
come for a tour of the Hotel and hear all his
wonderful stories, but when we got there he was asleep in his room.
